Al Qaeda and ISIS had their hands on NATO TOW missiles as well as other weapons that are suppose to have tight restrictions on who gets them.

Apparently a Bosnian company was approved by EUFOR to sell these American-made weapons to Saudi Arabia and from there they somehow wound up in terrorist hands including Al Qaeda and ISIS. NATO is suppose to make sure that these don't have a bad destination...apparently they aren't doing that task well?

Saudi Arabia had been criticizing the Syria government, were they purposefully arming rebels (terrorists) there? Saudi Arabia denies that they armed people and insist that they want a diplomatic solution.

We can't be too critical, Obama repeatedly made a series of decisions that saw us frequently accidentally arming "moderate rebels" inside of Syria, Libya, etc...that ended up being terrorists.

Apparently you missed Trump bragging about his arms deal he made with Saudi Arabia when he first got into office. It was YUUUUUUUUGE.

Every US president sells arms to Saudi Arabia, it is almost like a rite of passage for a US President. Think of it like the President's bah mitzvah.

It is almost as traditional as Saudi Arabia funding, educating and sending terrorists to commit terrorism in the west while we try to act like Iran is the root of our terrorism problem.

The weapons were manufactured in Bosnia, Bosnia is not a NATO member. But there is an agreement, made at the end of the Bosnian war, that all sales must be approved by EUFOR. These sales were approved and were made to, paid by, and sent to the Saudi military. The questions then are 1) did the Saudi government knowingly arm the terrorists 2) were these thefts from arsenals (inside job, fudged inventory), and 3) was EUFOR in on a diversion to terrorists or did they believe it was a legitimate sale for Saudi military use?

I think you missed that this predates Trump, really was NATO weapons that NATO was suppose to track.

But I do agree that Trump should reconsider the policies that arm terrorists - I couldn't believe all of the terrorists in Al Qaeda, ISIS, Hezbollah, etc that Obama kept accidentally arming. It will likely have bad impacts for us in the future. So step one is to stop arming "moderate rebels" across the war torn Middle East. Step two is to restructure NATO (and the US) so we aren't arming people willy nilly. Step three have the UN pressure non-NATO countries to do the same???

Not all of the weapons were made in Bosnia. Keep in mind ISIS, Al Qaeda, etc...get their hands on a lot of weapons from all over the West and the US specifically.

From the article:

Quote:
In a deep basement of a third building in the Ansari district, with the words Jaish al-Mujaheddin (Army of the Holy Fighters) crudely painted but still visible on the front, its upper floors clearly bombed by Syrian or Russian jets, lay dozens of empty boxes for anti-armour weapons, all marked with their maker’s name – the Hughes Aircraft Company, of California. The boxes were labelled “Guided Missile Surface Attack” with stock numbers starting with the computer code “1410-01-300-0254”.

But yes, some of the weapons were made in Bosnia and a recently retired official of that factory had this to say:

Quote:
Ifet Krnjic’s account of the mortar shipment from BNT-TMiH in Bosnia is both precise and detailed. “When the Saudis came to our factory to inspect at the beginning of 2016, there was a Saudi ‘minister’... and some Saudi officers who also came to inspect the weapons before receiving them. The officers wore civilian clothes. The minister was in a robe. All our production after the [Bosnian] war is under the control of the Americans and Nato who are always coming here… and they know each and every piece of our weapons which go outside our factory.”

Krnjic, who lives in the tiny village of Potok Krnjic, Bosnian hamlets sometimes carry the names of extended families, south of Novi Travnik, describes how he recognised Nato officers visiting the plant, one of them “a Canadian officer, a black guy whose name is Stephen”. Ikanovic, the BNT-TMiH boss, confirms that all weapons shipments, including those to Saudi Arabia, were checked by the European Union Force Althea (EUFOR), the successor to Nato’s SFOR, and set up under the 1995 Dayton accords which ended the Bosnian war. Ikanovic says an Austrian general visits his factory for inspections, identified to me by other employees as Austrian two star Major General Martin Dorfer, the EUFOR commander. Krnjic says weapons from the plant are exported by Tuzla airport or through Sarajevo.

The Saudis, Krnjic tells me, “were never complaining because we have had a very good reputation for a long time, not only for our weapons but for who can give the shortest delivery date… I know I should not say all of this, but Nato and the EU have given us the green light to do this……

"I cannot export anything without a licence with the approval of five different ministers here in Bosnia, and it [the contract] is overlooked by Nato,
NATO says that they keep a tab on where this stuff goes, apparently we can't fully keep tabs on it, especially in places like Saudi Arabia. Perhaps NATO needs to stop selling these weapons all over, which fuels more and more blood across the Middle East?

Well yes, of course the weapons made it into their hands, that is why we never gave them anti-aircraft weapons, because we know damn well we would not be able to control who gets them.

NATO, an organization in search of a mission...

There have alsi been reports linking them to the CIA.

ISIS may have obtained anti-tank missiles from the CIA - Business Insider

International Arms dealing has always been highly unscrupulous and has always been lined to organised crime and mafia groups.

More needs to be done, however this is a global problem and one which numerous governments have contributed to.

It is my wish that soon the world will greatly decrease its need for oil so that Saudi Arabia goes broke.

Bosnia is not a NATO member, just FYI.

I know that, I didn't say they were. Read the article. NATO weapons, weapons with NATO serial numbers on them have landed into terrorist hands. NATO also oversees those sales out of Bosnia.

Are you fine with this.
