Being from Redding, I have a bit of insight.
Redding has just over 90 thousand people in it. If county vote records hold true, about 70% of them went for trump. Right now about 30 thousand of those people are on the move. Some have been evacuated only to have the places they went to evacuated.
About 3000 people are here to fight the fire including local fire, US Forest service fire, CalFire, National Guard, and fire units from as far away as LA County. Over 500 structures have been lost with a further 3000 structures threatened.
Over 80 thousand acres have been burned and because of winds and extreme drought there is lots of fuel and the fire is very unpredictable and has taken off on fire fighters who fall back and try to save buildings as they can. Sometimes the fire moved so fast that the fire crews had to stop fire fighting and help with evacuation.
