Trump has positioned the Republican party in the catbird seat. A slightly more centrist Republican that is respectful and diplomatic will destroy anything the Dems could ever come up with.
This is disingenuous on the part of Comey and any so called centrists. If he was serious about centrism (and we know how politically active he is) he (and they) before should have been ranting about the dangers of progressivism.
They weren't, and they weren't able to stop it. Thus, there is no politically serious nor otherwise effective center. Comey is blowing hot air. And this is why we have President Trump.
