Russia has far more wealth/resources to fund Mr. Snowden's "asylum" long as it suits their purposes or whatever. OTOH Ecuador is relatively poor in comparison and a much smaller nation.
Finally one of the linked articles makes no mention of Mr. Assange close to be turfed out, maybe or otherwise. The other only makes vague and or off the record by second or third hand sources that things may be heading in that direction.
What is clear and has been so since Ecuador elected a new president is that Mr. Assange has overstayed his welcome. He is of little use to that country politically any longer and is costing them sums that could be spent elsewhere.
