Yep, I know many that work for Amazon and they can attest to that "fact." I wouldn't want to work for him but you have to admit he has a formula for great financial success.
I read part of the book about the founding of Amazon , it’s called the Everything store .
Good book , I should finish it sometime .
Everyone thought he was nuts to quit his great career to sell books on the internet . He started in a small office and they actually didn’t even stock books they would order them from their supplier as they got orders in , in the beginning.
From the book I got the sense he is a difficult guy to work for similar perhaps to Steve Jobs.
One thing is a lot of the wealth is in Amazon stock and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go down significantly in the next downturn . Nonetheless he’ll still be worth many billions .
I saw one of those old interviews he had done in the early days and his office had dirty carpet and he was driving an old Honda , even though he had a net worth of $1 billion at the time . The interviewer asked why he was driving an old Honda and he said “it’s a perfectly good car” I thought that was pretty cool .
Typical Lib, hoarding all the money and paying his employee's crap wages.
Ah but its these free markets that grant scratch off lotto wins to some and not others. Our markets are casinos and lottery tickets where some win big. Bezos even went so far as to say he had "Winnings" from Amazon.
He knows it's all a scam and is building space ships because he can't make sense of why the country works this way.
They dont have a degree and deserve what they get. No skill losers. (Do I get a cookie for saying it first?)
I know a few. Pretty much including one who now works for Walmart because, "They dont pay as much but they treat me WAY better." Yes really, Walmart.
*That being said, who your manager is makes all the difference in that kind of job. A great boss who simply treats you like a human, and at least has half a heart, can make a crappy job bearable.
I have a friend who works at the local Amazon DC. Just got a promotion from being a picker to a department manager, no college degree.
And he still refuses to treat his employees in a decent manner.
So don’t work for him or buy from him.
