1938 Munich: Chamberlain, realizing Britain's weakness and her civilian population's war-weariness from the last Great War, accepts Hitler's promise to take only a small bit of territory from Czechoslovakia.

2018 Helsinki: Trump, seeking better relations with Russia, admits that the US is the cause of all the trouble in Moscow-Washington relations - just a week after he casts doubt on the importance of NATO.

Let us know when you find a Russian sub. in the Great Lakes. We will likely find Obama rowing out to meet it now that the election is over and he has the flexibility.

Trump has a couple of problems:

The first is that if he believes our own intelligence agencies who have proof that Russia did interfere with the election, this will make his own tenure in office problematic at best. He lacks the integrity and the courage to say, "Let's get to the bottom of this for the sake of our Country, come what may." But Trump is a con artist interested only in increasing the fortunes of himself and his family, so instead he turns against American Law Enforcement and Intelligence Agencies and supports Vladimir Putin and Putin's Russia.

The second involves Trump's culture of victimhood. He is a victim because he is a republican; he is victimized by the free press which he dismisses as "fake news;" he is victimized by the US Judicial system when they rule against his unconstitutional travel bans, etc., etc.

And Trump is not alone in his victimhood. The United States of America is a victim of the rest of the world in general; white Americans - especially those without college degrees - are victims of the blacks, immigrants both legal and illegal, the so-called coastal elites, hispanics, and 5 year-olds who are members of MS 13. We have also been victimized by long standing allies like the evil Canadians, the wiley UK, that uppity woman who runs Germany, Australia for reasons that are unclear to me but clear as mud to Trump.

Interestingly enough, the victimization of the US is being used as an excuse to pull back from our allies in NATO and the EU - alliances long understood to protect Europe and the US from the predatory behavior of the Russian bear. Now we are supportive of everything and anything Putin wants to do and Canadian imports must be subjected to tariffs because Canada is a security threat.

Trumpers are enamoured by the role of victim and will follow Trump anywhere - even into the clutches of a former KGB officer who leads a nation long inimical to the US and the values we hold dear.

My Dad was a career US Army officer and he served his country at the height of the Cold War. Do you know what he did when he arrived at the border between free West Germany and Russian held East Germany? He spat on the Russian side. Trump wants to run over and kiss the Russian guards with their semi-automatics in hand and their concrete bunkers that they hide in.
