ATLANTA -- Judge Marvin Arrington insists he's not a racist; despite ordering white lawyers out of his courtroom on Thursday.

The Fulton County Superior Court judge said he was just fed up seeing a parade of young black defendants in his courtroom.

Two questions come to mind.

1) How do racists like this get on the bench.

2) How do they manage to stay there.

Here's another thought. If I were white and was the victim of a violent crime, and if the person(s) responsible for that crime were black, would I ever even hope to get justice from a racist black judge?

I didn't see much wrong with what he did. He wanted to have a brief constructive discussion with the black defendents he sees continuously coming through his courtroom. It seems he felt they may be more willing to listen to a "frank" discussion with a black only audience.

Seems to be someone who really cares about trying to improve things, at least from his personal perspective.

He's a judge. Being a racist, politician or activist is not in his job description. Period. In fact, this is the single most important reason why our judicial system is in utter shambles. Activist, political agenda judges.

Did you even bother to read the short article?
He read the defendants the riot act without counsel being present.
I think it was a good thing.

Blazer, don't you complain about crime?
Maybe being called to task by a judge can set some of these kids on the right path.

Your interpretation of the story is very different from mine. And I believe what he did was acceptable, and in support of an objective I consider laudable.

Rep points for you. I agree 100% If his talk changed the path of even one of the defendants it was well worth it.

News update,

Judge admits mistake in kicking whites out of court.

(CNN) -- An Atlanta, Georgia, judge who ordered white lawyers out of his courtroom so he could lecture African-American defendants called that decision a "mistake" Tuesday night.

I happen to agree---it was a "neat" idea, and showed a certain willingness to 'bend the rules' for a good reason. (I remember another black judge--in Memphis, I THINK--who was famous for taking young 'punks' into his chambers and verbally 'asaulting' them, 'off the record', with some VERY un-judge-like language..and had some very POSITIVE results).

Still, though, as a matter of pure debate, I think we ALL know that, if a WHITE judge had "cleared the court" of all non-whites, in order to "lay down the law" to a group of defiant skinheads, the media would have had a 'field day'--no matter HOW well-intentioned the act was....
