Chicago Homicide rates per 100,000:
2014 - 15.1
2015 - 17.5
2016 - 27.7 (up 78%)
2017 - (650) - (down 16%)

Unless Trump murdered fewer people in Chicago than Obama, I'm not sure how these statistics can be attributed to either.

How did I insist anything about Trump? My point is if there are less murders than the year before then it is good for Chicago.

Clearly people here celebrate the 650 number as some kind of accomplishment of Trump, which means they think he owns it. The truth is 650 murders is not a good number, as it is above average of the recent years.

Uh, what did he do to accomplish this? Nothing.

In Kansas City homicides rose from 131 last year to 149 this year. I guess we can blame that on Trump.

Then why did homicides go UP in Kansas City?

This is good news and it is a start. However, it's still a long way to go for Chicago and America's other crime-ridden cities.

It is my hope and expectation that Trump will act to dramatically reduce inner-city crime during his administration. That's what he said he would do.

Because the mayor of a large city would prefer to see the murder rate continue to rise...nope you are only fooling yourself with that claim.

Trump sent some Feds in, so yes, he does have something to do with it, like him or not.

The numbers would have been higher if the temps hadn't been low this past week. It's currently -17 degrees with the wind chill and was even colder this morning. Crime drops the colder it gets and the holidays are usually a time of a lot of homicides.

Cop killings are also down - 128 officers versus 143 last year.

20 feds vs. 1100 new local hires, new tech, etc.. Statistically speaking, what likely had more of an effect? But who knows.
