Newt Gingrich said Thursday that Democrats are headed for a major political upset in 2018, mostly due to the mainstream media’s dishonesty and the party’s inability to learn from its own mistakes.
“The great political surprise of 2018 will be the size of the Republican victory,” the former Republican House Speaker wrote in a column for Fox News. “After members of the elite media have spent two years savaging President Trump, lying about Republican legislation, and reassuring themselves that Republican defeat was inevitable, the size of the GOP victory in 2018 will be an enormous shock.”
This proposal in the OP's post is coming from a partisan source who was forced to resign in 1999 for unexpectingly losing seats in the 1998 election and who couldn't accurately foresee his own defeat in the 2012 presidential primary for the Republican party. I see no reason to respect his opinions now.
If the GOP wins seats in 2018, one can only attribute it to short-sighted and selfish behavior; a willingness to sell out the future via a huge "pay day loan" style tax cut just to save a few bucks now. Nothing Trump or his worthless party has done so far while in power is worthy of merit, and the tax cut scam is about the only action he's taken that might earn him some votes.
Any wonder why Gingrich was deposed from his job as Speaker and is no longer taken seriously in politics?

Record budget deficits? Do you know 2018 deficit is $440 billion, and that Obama regularly ran deficits of over $1 trillion annually?
You're trying to re-write history.
All the Republicans have to do is pass a healthcare bill, and an infrastructure bill, and they will keep their seats in congress, if not gain seats.
Now if the Republicans will do that, remains to be seen.
Newt also predicted the NY Giants would go to the Superbowl this year .
