I think we all know what is happening behind the scenes, unless we want to play dumb. The opposition for whatever reason, decided to try to find "dirt" on the opponent. My thought is most is false, along the lines of "leading a witness", "Anything? Anything at all? Did he maybe touch you, ask you out, comment on your looks?" We're talking 30 or 40 years ago, many won't even remember what age they were or where they were or who they were with. "We'd really like to get this guy." "Anything? Do you remember anything we could use?"
Note also that if a man had been accused of "touching", that ends up as a "raped" in the headline. Many don't read beyond the headline. Many don't comprehend despite it being read to them. Doing an autopsy on the article can be enlightening, yet to some, they simply don't have the intelligence or command of English to comprehend that something is an "accusation".
So if Trump lead a clean life and business empire until now he has nothing to worry about. It's not any different than what the Republicans are doing to Hillary, "LOCK HER UP".

And just HOW do you propose crimes become known without investigation?

The difference being, Trump was a private Citizen and din't work for us.
Hillary worked for us.

No one was being accused of any crime to be investigate by the FBI in the first place. Nothing criminal took place, or is being accused, until the Manafort charges. Then that has nothing to do with the campaign and actually involves Hillary's campaign chairman and the Ukrain elections.
Manafort and the Podesta's are in the same business, of consulting political campaigns all over the world.
