Pence would stab trump in the back and not think twice about it. He is an opportunist just as much as trump. In fact , he is slimier, because he tries to coat it in Christian values. He is a phony.
With this story, Bannon is telling Trump to stop acting so crazy right now because Bannon can't communicate directly to Trump fast enough right now because he's not a staffer any longer. By leaking this story, Bannon is able to communicate to Trump immediately.
Or maybe this was his way of handing the cabinet the instructions of removing Trump.
In the end Pence will betray trump. Bannon was vehemently against Pence on the ticket; he knew Pence would at some point put the Country above trump. That day is coming.
