Immigration, legal and illegal, is the only reason our population is growing at all. Without it, we're in the same boat as Europe and Japan with fewer younger taxpayers supporting an increasing number of seniors.

Also, no one seems to care what a reduction in available labor would do to prices. All of us are consumers. If you force employers to pay higher wages all of that cost will be passed through in the form of higher prices.

The immigration issue isn't economic because overall, restrictions in labor supply will cause more economic harm than good.

It's a cultural/racial issue, period, and whenever Trump needs a distraction, it's the shiny object that his loyal pack of Pavlovian dogs will invariably pursue.

The poem was added later to the Statue of Liberty and isn't a true representation of what it stood for? Huh?

Under God wasn't originally part of the PoL.

You keep saying it was a planned car wreck. If it was planned, Acosta had to be in on it? He was the main player. So I ask, you think Miller and Acosta colluded? You cannot have it both ways.
So that is why I asked, if you think Miller & Acosta colluded together to make this distraction. This wasn't a solo ass whoop'n.

For Your Information, I'm not a "Leftie," as you call them. I'm a moderate.

It's prejudicial because you're skewing the playing field toward those who can only speak English. I wonder if Trump's wife herself could speak English when she came or her parents, which I doubt.

English takes time to learn. My Grandparents couldn't speak it when they came. Even at the end of her life, my Grandmother spoke Broken English. They had children all who had great jobs, Executives in Business, and Grand Children who all achieved College Degrees and "worldly success."

I guess my Grandparents who made part of this country what it is today shouldn't have been allowed here. Or, tons of others before and behind them. This is plain wrong and I'll never say it's right.

Why not talk about how millions of immigrants right at Ellis Island with the Statue of Liberty looking down on them were sent back to their countries of origin because they couldn't pass the health exam or didn't have proper documentation? What makes anyone think the Statue of Liberty is a giant poster making immigration a free for all? Nothing could be further from the truth. Immigration was never a free for all and never will be unless of course you're in CA with the southern border wide open to illegal immigrants.
Some people really need to take a hard look at reality and stop living in a liberal fantasy land of their progressive dreams.

Both statements are true. The poem was added later, and so was One Nation, Under God. Those are not laws, they're poems and songs.

English is a common second language taught in schools throughout most of the world now. This isn't 1912 anymore.
India alone has 120,000,000 million people that speak English and China has about 150,000,000. I guess those numbers alone aren't enough. It's irrelevant, but Trump's wife speaks several languages probably better than most people in this country speak English.

My Grandfather was "low skilled" as you call them pejoratively when he immigrated here. He spoke no English, yet worked hard, learned English and worked hard. Their Children all contributed to society and most had Executive/Management positions in their work lives. Their children (the Grand children) all graduated from College w/ BA's and MA's. They contributed in other ways, too, making this country what it is today.

What Trump proposed is plain wrong. It has no chance of becoming law either. Most people realize what this is veiled as.

You wouldn't know it's not 1912 by the Rhetoric that comes out of Trump's camp. I don't care about someone knowing how to speak English when they first arrive. I could give a rat's a*s about it. As long as they're willing and able to learn what it is necessary, which they will in time, let them come. We should have no English test requirement. Even your leader, Trump, speaks in the poorest of vocabularies. Everything is "terrible, wonderful, or great." How's that for vocabulary? He isn't a good role model for language skills. How ironic.
