Kevorkian candidacy could complicate Michigan congressional race

Assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian plans to run for Congress, complicating a Michigan race that is expected to be among the most competitive in the nation.

The so-called "Dr. Death," who was released from prison last year and remains on parole, will run as a candidate with no party affiliation for a congressional seat representing Detroit's suburbs, an associate said.

"Jack is in great spirits, and he intends to do this. He just hopes for some honesty in government," said Ruth Holmes, Kevorkian's longtime jury consultant.

This should prove to be interesting.

Isn't he dead yet? Looks like he is about 110, and I thought he was from Oregon. I'm really confused. Does he stand any real chance?

I've always been confused as to why people have a problem with other people dying. Seems selfish. I know a lot of doctors will knowingly over medicate their patients if they ask for it.

I won't say he'd get my vote, because I don't know where he stands on other issues, but he is probably libertarian leaning based on his philosophy on assisted suicide.

If he is trying to kill congress then I am joining his campaign and will work for free.

Tell me if you can. How can killing congress be a bad thing? I see it as the start of a new freedom loving America with honesty at its original roots.

I don't know enough about his political views to say if I would hypothetically vote for him or not... but I think assisted suicide should be a right. I have seen people that had no quality of life left suffering until they finally died. Were I in that situation, I'd rather meet a quick end.
