Europe is broken. The EU started off as a wonderful idea but like many things there are now people taking advantage of it including those who want to murder in the name of their god and it is all falling apart.
Maybe that is why Trump has riled Angela Merkel. He told her what he thought about how she is running Germany and didn't pull any punches.

Few centuries? Try less than 100 years there if talking Europe and Africa.
If we're gonna play THAT game: how come places like Poland and S Korea are doing pretty good these days? Both of those nations got tore up pretty bad about 70 years ago but, bounced back.

Poland is part of the EU and receives massive agriculture subsidies and billions in infrastructure dollars. South Korea received huge amounts of US aid to jump start their economy. African countries were left with nothing. The same nepotism that perpetuated inquality during colonialism was reproduced by African leaders and any wealth was never redistributed or invested.
Nigerian Americans are one of Americas most capable and successful immigrant groups, yet their country is dirt poor. This speaks bounds to the corruption and incompetence in African countries, a direct result of colonialsm.
