If any of them try to run against Trump in 2020, they would lose badly. It would be similar to the elections of 1980, 1984 or 1988. The fake news fools you to believe that Trump is unpopular. But Obama and George W Bush were unpopular when they ran for re-election, and nobody thought they would win a second term.

The Dems have nothing for not only the 2020 election but the 2018 election as well. They are too busy trying to derail Trump to come up with anything, along with currently fighting the Bernie supporters in court while claiming the Democratic party has the right to fix elections.
Trump had already filed to run in 2020. As for Kasich, no way would I ever vote for someone who'd taken money from Soros.

Bush and Obama were unpopular but not that unpopular. They also didn't have the baggage that Trump will likely be carrying into the 2020 race. Both also had very weak opposition in Kerry and Romney.
I wish we could somehow break away from the Democrat/Republican dominance. Time for a third party candidate to be viable. Otherwise we just will likely keep getting crappier candidates on both sides.
As "Cida" noted, to the OP that was a very well crafted and thoughtful post. I basically agree with you OP. I'd only caution that the power of incumbency is a card Trump will have in 2020 that he did not have in 2016. Of course, he'll also have to defend his record in 2020 which he did not have to do in 2016.
Let's hope a good center/left (emphasis on center) candidate emerges who can connect with all voters but especially in those key states where Hillary fell short.
This would be unprecedented if it were to occur. However, Trump's approval rating would probably need to get down into the low 20s or even the teens before it would even be in the cards. You would really have to get to a place where nobody was defending him. As it stands, Trump's supporters are still loyal and they aren't going anywhere.
The framers of the Constitution took extra care to make sure that it was very difficult to remove a President simply at the whims of Congress.
But EVERYTHING has been unprecedented lately. His entire campaign - the lies, the viciousness, the pettiness, the ignorance - that was all unprecedented.
And Nixon's approval ratings stayed reasonable tolerable for a long time...
And in this case, it wouldn't be the whims of Congress, but the outrage of the citizenry.

Really? Here in AZ, we have two repub's who are being predicted to lose their seats next year (Martha McSally in the 2nd district and David Schwiekert in the 6th)

In a sense, the winner was a third party candidate. That's one reason for all the turmoil.

Name every single Democrat in congress without googling it or take this absurd comment back. Democrats are not monolithic. For all we know, the Democrat who gets the nomination is some state senator from who gives a **** where.
Bare in mind, if Trump's term goes poorly, they Republicans can decide to run another candidate. It doesn't happen often but it is technically possible.
