They grew up as American citizens, then learned that they weren’t (illegal, attorney)

Today, children who are adopted from abroad by U.S. citizens generally receive automatic citizenship, and adoption agencies and embassies are better at informing parents about any follow-up they need to do. The Child Citizenship Act of 2000 awarded citizenship retroactively to what advocates estimated were more than 100,000 international adoptees under 18 who were already in the country when it went into effect in February 2001.
But Ki Hong was not covered by the law because he already was 18 at the time. He is among an estimated tens of thousands of people who were adopted internationally by American parents between the 1950s and 1980s but never naturalized.
Many CDF posters know me as being hard against amnesty for any illegal alien. Tho this ^^^ just ain't right cause these people's "parents" were US citizens. Those adopted kids deserve to be US citizens, period.
I think there are some differences between these people and illegal immigrants.
I have a friend who was adopted by a white couple from Vietnam after the war. i know he went through a lot of identity crisis. His dad was an attorney, so I am sure my friend's paperwork is just fine.
My heart goes out to the people in this article. I am anti-illegals, but it is hard to convince me these people are illegals.

Agreed. These aliens ain't Dream Act people cause their "parents" who got them here were usually US citizens.
Tough. They ain't citizens they need to be deported.

Adoption is a long legal process. They knew what they were getting. No sympathies.
Then the law needs to be changed to cover the older adopted people since going by the article: MOST adopted kids from 2000 on become US citizens through the parents.
I don't agree with the law bestowing automatic citizenship to the adopted aliens. They weren't actually born to a US citizen. Adopted aliens should go through the same naturalization process as other legal permanent residents. They way if they're prove their trouble, they can be easily deported. I don't agree with adopting foreigners in general.
My thoughts? We need some politicians doing their jobs. These people all had varying expectations that were entirely reasonable at the time. We should investigate this, verify the facts, and make a bill based upon wisdom, justice, and compassion. They should then vote based upon what the think is in the best interests of our country.

We need to disagree here; especially if the foreign kid adopted was a baby. OTOH; a kid about 10 years old or older, I kinda agree there.

I don't really agree with adopting foreigners, but it is their life, not mine. so.....
If they are adopted, then they should at least have a green card or something like that.
