I look forward to your direct replies to this question.

Area of wasting money!

Democrats want to control your money.

Republicans want to control your life.

American people want to control their fellow citzen's money and spent it on themselves. Don't worry, we will have a majority vote on taking the 'rich people's money, banning gay marriage and etc, so it's OK...

The military. Sure, groups like Blackwater are lethal and can be affective, but those operating in the name of the U.S. should have constraints and discipline, or else we never win the hearts and minds... not that our military commanders have done a great job of that lately.
This also goes for intelligence gathering or spying. Those agencies, if not at least appearing to be in public control, would blatantly give information away to the highest bidder for exploitation, leading to tyranny by private groups... more so than currently.

Regional planning. Private development leads to sprawled out psuedo-communities where everything is built as cheaply as possible with no central core or sense of place, regional transit patterns are hardly considered, and developments are not built with long-term, future growth in mind.

Equitable education. If all schools were private, there would be very expensive ones where only the rich kids could go, and the middle and lower class children would be alienated, never getting the opportunity to network with people beyond their income bracket. A sure fire way to divide the upper and middle class and bring about a revolution. Of course, education needs impovement. But pricing school out of reach for masses of people will de-stabalize things quickly.

Regulating trade. Remember Joe Kennedy and his stock swapping scheme that helped us into the great depression? The trade business cannot self-regulate like professional groups do (AMA, ABA, etc.), trade is opportunistic by nature.

I'm not for big government, but neo-Cons are starting to sound like anarchists. Do you think we should have a privatized government? Can you imagine the police force being under the control of some unelected official with his own agenda? "To serve and protect... at the right price." "Injunction Sale! - Buy two restraining orders, get a free trespass warrant!"

Most of the rest of the world has effectively privatized government under the control of a dictator backed by an aristocracy and just look how well they are doing. Huge profits for the aristocracy and political prisons for any dissenters are normal for much of the world.

Government should own the natural monopolies and provide public services for the benefit of all the people of the community not just a connected financial elite. Government should never provide protection for American investment beyond our legal borders. If investors want to play in foreign markets they can do it at their risk, not mine.

I have a lot more to say about this topic and have already said it on this forum. To summarize I believe in public ownership of public resources and unlimited political freedom for the individual.
