There is no presumption that collapse = good.
The original post was raising the question about which collapse would be best - for recovery. Not that collapse was "good."
Collapse is inevitable.
Correct except that there will be no recovery of the USA, more likely several countries after much blood shed.

Well, give us specifics and a timeframe for this great upheaval.
There is a long list of reasons the Nation could turn into chaos, here just a few:
A Major Economic collapse
A rebellion by a major sector of the population
A couple for nukes or dirty bombs going off across the Nation
A cyber attack that brings down the grid for more than a few weeks across large sectors of the Nation
An EMP device(s) set off over the Nation frying most electronics including almost ever car and truck or plane.
A major Solar Flare that does the same if not worse damage than an EMP device
A set of major storms that destroy large sections of the Nation
The Earth moving about like it has in the past and setting off super volcanoes such a Yellowstone and cause havoc across the Nation
A new virus that is deadly that has no know vaccines and antibiotics do not have any effect and it spreads as easy as the flue, and kills Millions.
A Meteor flies in from space and does the same sort of damage as the one that hit the Yucatan and was the final nail in the coffin for the dinosaurs.
And invasion from outside enemies in mass, Russia or China could each do so and together would be near unstoppable.
The list of possibilities goes on and on but you get the idea, it would not take near as much as one would think to topple society as we know it, dependence on the infrastructure is complete for most and without it society would be down to the survival of the fittest and smartest.
Time Line, 40 years, 10 years, Next Year, Next Month, Tomorrow, any and all are possibilities. That is why some people try and prepare for an emergency where they can survive without government or infrastructure support. Some might say that is silly but why is it people carry a spare tire in their car yet have never had a flat tire? It is simply common sense to be prepared in case of an emergency and be able to take care of ourselves and those we care about.
