The NY state senate leader (R) and his son and the legislative leader (D) are both on trial in federal court this month on corruption charges. There have been around 10 congressmen indicted in the last few years. They are making progress towards reform but not nearly enough, disclosure of outside income has been hidden for years but that is changing and critical to any reform.

don't forget about Ed Mangano. They arrested the Indian restaurant owner for giving him bribes. When are they going to arrest Mangano for taking them?

Prime example of corruption in Florida. Red light camera companies discovered that here was an untapped gold mine in the state. They had lobbyists in Tallahassee with millions of dollars to spread around to get a red light camera law passed. During the debate, the then A.G. Charlie Crist said the cameras were unconstitutional. After the bill passed and Charlie became Governor, he changed his mind and signed the bill. Charlie never met a lobbyist he didn't like. This is the politician that was a Republican, was an Independent, now a Democrat. He now wants to be the Representative of the 13th C.D.

Washington state, chomping at the bit to be more communistic than CA.

GOP says Dems 'stole' Washington race - politics | NBC News

Rossi, a former state senator and commercial real estate agent, won the first count last year by 261 votes and a machine recount by 42 votes. But during a hand recount of 2.9 million ballots, the Democratic stronghold of Seattle made Gregoire, a former attorney general, the winner by 129 votes.

Should be a reimbursement, charges brought, and removal from Office on this one.

Now I feel lied to. I lived in Illinois for 64 years and always believed we were #1 in corruption, but according to that report we only got a D+. But I'm feeling a little better now that I've moved to a D- state, God's Waiting Room.

What I don't understand is why these politicians haven't enacted any real campaign finance reform so their states get a better grade.
