Let's just imagine for a moment that this was the best way to handle taxes. How long would it be until government as we know it decided to screw it up and change everything again? Hell, they'd use the tax change as an excuse expand the already overwhelming bureaucracy that we already have, necessitating a change in the tax code because it wouldn't support government "need".

Is a tax overhaul due? I say absolutely. The problem I see is that it will wind up hurting everybody instead of just the "rich" (which no one seems to have a consistent definition). I'll take the devil I know over the one our government would come up with.

I'll also point out that I am not rich by any means, but I do not, in anybway, support this recent idea of demonizing the rich. I think it is worth noting that we, the common man, need the rich a hell of a lot more than they need us. What I mean by that is we need their contribution in taxes or we will be able to all but forget the idea of getting a tax refund again. I guess it's just easier to pick on people out of jealousy or some other reason. It's stupid. There was a time when we all looked up to the rich guy and aspired to be like him. Now he's just a target of rage.

Resume the regularly scheduled topic now.

Proposals:

-Eliminate FICA completely
-Eliminate corporate taxes completely
-Capital Gains subject to the same rates rates as Income Taxes
-5% National Sales Tax, with standard exemptions to Groceries and Clothing items under $100

New Marginal Tax Rates (double the schedule for joint filing), Indexed to inflation going forward:
0-$50,000: 10%
$50,000-$100,000: 15%
$100,000-$200,000: 20%
$200,000-$500,000: 30%
$500,000+: 49.99%

Alright, liberals. Here is the plan:

-FICA is useless from a functional standpoint. It is only there for political reasons (preserving social security from Republican attempts to gut it). FICA is regressive and social security isn't actually funded through FICA.

-Corporate taxes aren't needed, since we end up paying them anyway.

-Taxes need to be more progressive.

-Sales taxes can lesson the need for such a heavy reliance on the EITC.. because necessities can be exempted. Sales taxes alone aren't enough as they are too dependent on business cycles.
really now 50% taxes on 500k or more.....nearly every doctor will reitire

a national sales tax ON TOP of those HIGH income taxes???

no fica.....fine with me....but I want every dime I DUMPED INTO IT BACK

capital gain on the same level as income taxes...meaning 50% if you just happen to have a capital gain of 500k....there goes selling the house

typical liberal...never using your brain

eliminate corporate, income, excise, and estate taxes all together ...have ONE TAX, a federal consumption tax with the rebate..... home - FairTax.org
