Not that the cons who are still firmly stuck in the 1970s will notice, much less care, but Jerry Brown is sounding a bit like, well, a conservative.

Capitol Alert: Jerry Brown worries about marijuana legalization and 'potheads'

Quote:
The problem with anything, a certain amount is OK. But there is a tendency to go to extremes. And all of a sudden, if there's advertising and legitimacy, how many people can get stoned and still have a great state or a great nation? The world's pretty dangerous, very competitive. I think we need to stay alert, if not 24 hours a day, more than some of the potheads might be able to put together
For the record, I absolutely support marijuana legalization, even though I never touch the stuff.

Finally, an issue where Jerry Brown actually does sound like someone that should be nicknamed "Moonbeam."

He's nuts if he wants to continue on the path of criminalization.

Okay, the problem with legalization is that some people will go too far with it?

So we should make alchohol illegal because people drink too much as well?

Do we want to make food illegal because people eat too much of it and get fat?

Are cars illegal because people can drive too fast?

The irony is Jerry Brown has been the most conservative governor California has had in the last 20 years. Now if he would actually give up on the stupid train I would be pretty happy with him. (Though I believe pot should be legal, in practice it already is in this state, anyone can get a pot card for any reason).

Post News, Ca. Gov. Jerrry Brown: World is ‘too dangerous’ for a nation of potheads

Appearing on NBC’s Meet The Press, California Governor Jerry Brown said that he was not prepared to completely legalize marijuana in his state.

Asked by host David Gregory if legalizing marijuana was “a good idea or a bad idea for California?”, Brown replied that he would like to wait and see what happens in Colorado and Washington, two states that recently liberalized their marijuana laws.

Brown is utilizing one of the benefits of federalism. See how the experiment works in other states before taking similar action. Not a bad idea.

Wonders never cease! Another liberal coming out and questioning the wonderfulness of drug use.

Color me shocked on this. I figured CA would be the next to legalize.

I'm a Con that strongly favors legalization and I too have never tried any type of drugs. The war on drugs is an abysmal failure. When it's easier for kids to get pot than alcohol, its time we concede and make it legal.
