There has NEVER been a study with 1ppm and the effects on IQ. The Harvard one is all we have to work with for now and I believe it was 2-4ppm and a drop in IQ of 7 points. Rats showed significant brain altercation and an increase in aluminum at 1ppm.

Still, it should concern you, especially as they are lowering the recommended dosages by 25% seemingly out of nowhere.

In America, we combine mercury with fluoride in mouths of children.

But, we DO try to keep them away from lead.

We don't want a bunch of stupid idiots running around.

Mercola? Seriously? I'd rather take health and wellness advice from Minnie Mouse.

Why are people obsessing about the Author?

It was a HARVARD STUDY FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH.

Americans are doomed.

I am fortunate that at my house, we have well water! We are at the top of a hill too, so we don't have to worry about run-off from other homes. I consider myself very lucky that I was able to grow up in a house that didn't have public drinking water. I also use a non-flouride toothpaste, after switching over about a year and a 1/2 ago.

Which cities in the United States of America (not China on which the study was based) have a HIGHLY fluorinated water supply?

It does concern me, but other people think the need to be concerned over the danger of fluoride in the water is nothing but a lot of phony baloney. It's interesting, though, how in my town the town chooses to fluoridate its water, while the local university does not.

Are you THAT concerned about cavities that you think we should medicate our public drinking water?
You don't think 2ppm and a drop in IQ is anything to worry about, but you go along fine when The Federal Government recommends a drop by more than 25% in the level of fluoride.

I grew up in a house with fluorided tap water and had tons of cavities. I have had fluoride free water for years and haven't had a cavity since I was a kid, mainly because I don't eat as much candy and brush my teeth more.

Most countries in Europe do not fluoride their water and there is no difference between the quality of our teeth.

And the fluoride put into our water is industrial waste, not natural fluoride (which is not harmful in low doses).

You are very lucky. I installed a reverse osmosis system, which was a little expensive but well worth it.
