The government now increasingly tries to limit both the first and the second amendments of the constitution, stands in the middle between you and your doctor so has greater control of your body, increasingly feeds and clothes and houses and raises you and your family through entitlements, educates your children, and knows who you talk to on the phone, who you talk to in your emails, and what sites you like to visit on your little lap top PC.

Does everybody see the danger of the direction we are heading?

We are a free society, but that freedom only survives as long as the men and women elected into powerful positions in government possess virtue and integrity, and do not abuse the power granted to them.
The Congress created the FCC. Congress determined the role of the FCC. The constitutional basis for the FCC is the commerce clause.

This voluntary study is not restricting anyone's freedoms.

One more time not that it will matter this time either. It's none of their business.
How does this study restrict any right granted under the first amendment?

I love the idea. Then when the GOP is in office we can load up the NYT, WaPo, the LAT and MSNBC with monitors. Under Obama we are going full Venezuela and I approve.

The federal government has no reason to inquire into this. The government is huge, and powerful, this is just going to be used as new way to intimidate private citizens.

I can't help you if you cannot see the abuses of power going on in our government.

Much ado about nothing, this whole monitor bit.
Due to global warming and continential drift the left wing has lost their reference point as they drifted offshore leaving the mainland behind. The mainland used to appear just barely to the right, now appears to them as a distant dot on the horizon though it has not moved an inch.

They wouldn't need monitors in most of the mainstream media outlets; they have their noses so far up Obama's behind the tips are being burned by stomach acid....

So on its own, the FCC should decide not to perform the duties that Congress assigned to it?

If and when the FCC intimidates news organization or private citizens then I would be concerned. However, this voluntary study does neither.
