I wonder if this means that they will not sell to CA law enforcement agencies?
If so, said agencies better take REAL GOOD care of their existing weapons! The day may come when there won't be any new ones for them!

Maybe CA can route their purchasing needs for new weaponry through the Mexican Cartels who seem to have a steady stream from the head gringos up north.

Nope, sorry but with a market this big SOMEONE will step in to service it. Especially since setting up a new firearms company is actually really cheap given that there are so many really popular gun designs which are public domain (think the M1911). The reality is the big gun makers are just scared poopless of microstamping because they know a large percentage of their sales come from criminals and that said criminals won't want to buy microstamped guns which makes it a heck of a lot easier to solve gun crimes. Just about every law enforcement agency in the state supports it because it really does make it easier to solve crimes.

Microstamping is a requirement that each firearm be fitted with a special firing pin that leaves a fingerprint on a bullet casing which differs from the fingerprint of every other firearm. In other words--every one of the wildly popular Smith & Wesson M&P .45 semi-automatic handguns would have to be manufactured in such a way so that no two of them left the same mark on a shell casing.
The cost of doing this would be incredibly high to manufacturers, and would be a cost they would have to pass on to consumers in higher prices.
Moreover, the result of doing this would be yet another gun registry--every gun sold that met microstamping requirements would have be to registered so that the government knew who owned the gun that left that fingerprint.
On top of these things, micropstamping doesn't even work--and least not all the time. There are proven problems with the durability of microstamps on firing pins.

I know you're joking around, but. I'm sure someone will read this and not realize it.
So.
Let's pretend microstamping is actually viable for a minute.
How will microstamping make it easier to solve crimes?
1. If a criminal buys a gun, they will use a stone and knock the microstamping off instantly.
2. if a criminal steals a gun, it will just lead back to the original owner.
3. If a criminal goes to a public shooting range and picks up some brass, he can contaminate the crime scene instantly and waste a lot of police time.
