From the NYT - "WASHINGTON — The Central Intelligence Agency is secretly collecting bulk records of international money transfers handled by companies like Western Union — including transactions into and out of the United States — under the same law that the National Security Agency uses for its huge database of Americans’ phone records, according to current and former government officials."
Ho-hum Another surveillance program exposed. Do I care? Nah. However, what's more fun is wondering why is the NYT releasing this story now? They must've known about this for awhile. The evolving disaster that is Obamacare is too big to bumped off the newspages by a story about the CIA, so they can't be trying to gift the Obama administration with a diversion. Why would the NYT want to stick it to the Obama administration? GWB I understood, but their brother liberal?
This is not new, but very a important part of our process in keeping USD out of Iranian hands.
So the story goes. Always interesting to see who is supposedly behind these corporations.
9/11 opened a lot of doors that were previously SHUT to spying.
In fact, 9/11 not only opened doors previously shut but created new agencies, protocols, and the famous "in the name of national security" get-out-of-jail card that let's them do whatever they want.
Hitler would be in his glory if he were alive today and had this technology available to him.

True, well if it looks like a duck...you know the rest.
The next wave seems to be coming.

The US didn't get access to the SWIFT system until after 9/11.
Don't ASSume I said that the CIA was using this particular technology for decades. I said I'm pretty sure the CIA has been monitoring international financial transactions, in some way, shape or form; for about as long as the older members on here have been alive.
