If the government doesn't get funded by October, it will shut down.
Republicans in the House have passed a bill that will fund all of the government at last year's levels, even including all the Democrats' pet projects from last year that Republicans (or at least conservatives) normally object to.
Democrats in the Senate have refused to pass that bill, or even vote on it, because it doesn't fund one new Dem pet project that wasn't part of the government last year, the ACA. But they are doing nothing to write a separate bill to fund that new pet project.
The more fanatical Democrats are insisting it's Republicans' fault that government isn't getting funded.
Of course. CNN is one of the outlets repeating over and over, that since the Republicans won't drop their principles and do what the Democrats want, of course the resulting shutdown is Republicans' fault.
No sign of any "news" reports saying that, since Democrats won't drop THEIR socialist principles and do what Republcans want, of course the resulting shutdown is the Democrats' fault.
For some reason CNN sees it only one way, never the other... though they are careful not to explain why.

Can they get any sillier?
And why aren't the Democrats supporting this bill that will keep the government funded? Have you ever asked yourself that question?

This perspective is insanity. Can conservatives think rationally?
This the objective reality of the situation, the conservatives and Democrats in the Congress as well as the President all agree the government has to be funded. There is no disagreement.
Now the Democratic party which controls 2/3rds of the government is not asking the conservatives for a single concession to vote to fund the government.
conservatives who control 1/3rd of the government are asking for a huge concession without offering anything in return.
Why should the Democrats in Congress agree to destroy their bill and get nothing?
I have asked this question repeatedly and not one conservative has even attempted to answer it.
The larger point is that this situation is not a compromise. It is not a negotiation. The Democrats negotiate away their bill and get nothing.
While the conservatives who agree the government has to be funded gets to destroy the health care bill and give up nothing.
In what world does that makes sense to sane people?

That's what the Democrats in Congress say.
But it's not how they vote.

In the Democrats' bizarro world... which is the world they now want to impose on the rest of us.

House GOP to the Senate: "We're going to send you a bill that we all know will never pass the Senate. Then we'll all prance around and say, "See? See? It's not our fault! We sent you a bill that everyone knows had no hope of passing, and surprise, surprise, you didn't pass it! Then we'll pretend to be all shocked and dismayed that a bill that had no hope of passing doesn't pass! Yeah, that will boost our credibility with the American electorate."
Can the GOP be any more childish? I think not. Too bad for them, they fool no one but their base, who are not the sharpest tools in the shed, so no surprise there.

Well don't stop there. Tell us what else is in the bill. There is something else, right? Because if the GOP passed a "clean" bill - i.e., a bill that does one thing and one thing only: fund the government - and the Democrats are complaining about it, I will promise to never, ever vote for any Democrat ever again.
But something tells me I won't be held to that promise, because the funding bill isn't "clean", is it?
The GOP is trying to remove or change an existing law. This is a law that was passed by both the House and Senate, and signed by the President. This is a law that was found to be constitutional by the Supreme Court. This is a law that has survived 40 or so cowardly attempts by the GOP to repeal it.
There are legitimate ways by which a law is removed or changed. And then there's the GOP way ... to attach such an action to a "necessary" piece of legislation.
And so the government will shut down, since the Democrats are rightfully resisting this act of extortion. And it may last a few days - even longer - and the GOP will look even worse than they look now, and eventually a "clean" funding bill will be passed.
What a waste of time and money! Why do people continue to send such clowns to Congress?

I wouldn't have thought so. But darned if the GOP isn't getting sillier by the minute!
