Having lived nearly my whole life in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, I may be in a bubble and lack perspective about this.

However, I've seen a number of people state this on the forums. So, I'm curious as to how widespread this perception is.

I think the federal government's role has grown immensely from settling interstate disputes and foreign affairs to meddling with state's rights... There is a reason the federal government doesn't appoint state governors.... Today the federal government acts as though governors are their employees and many on here who wish it so...
