This is to accompany the following thread, which didn't have a poll: https://www.city-data.com/forum/polit...ive-obama.html

It is hard to judge a president while he is still in office, however give the president the grade that you feel he deserves the most.

Good:
- economy is getting better
- gays allowed to marry
- Iraq pullout/pending Afghanistan pullout

Bad:
- NSA wiretapping started under Bush not curbed
- Guantanamo started under Bush not curbed
- Healthcare watered down
- monopolies and corporate welfare not curbed
- drone strikes increased
- Bush-era paramilitarization of municipal police forces not curbed

He's no G.W. Bush, but he's also no Bill Clinton

-- economy is getting better

-Economy is propped up by Quantitative Easing that can't go on forever, this money creation helps the stock market, national debt interest payments and mortgage rates stay low...but will cause damage if continued.
-Poverty Rate is growing, already at all time high in 50 years.
-Record number of people on food stamps and growing.
-Labor Participation Rate down to lowest rate since 1979.
-Labor Participation for25 to 54 year olds down to lowest rate since 1984.
-Decreasing Median household income.
-Fewer full time jobs in terms of ratio in labor force

-- gays allowed to marry

- How has Obama helped gays marry? He only vocalized support of it before he had vocalized support against it. Where has Obama actually pushed through legislation so gays can marry?

-- Iraq pullout/pending Afghanistan pullout

-In Iraq Obama is following Bush's withdrawal timeline.
-In Afghanistan Obama escalated the war far above where Bush had it.
-Obama has escalated the drone war and introduced it into new countries.
-Obama has sent military forces into action in over 75 countries, exceeding Bush.

You could give him a grade for where he is currently standing. Has he made sufficient progress after 4.5 years on those goals?
