I guess the family of Nicole Simpson should have done the same thing when OJ was acquitted. Just go away.
Most Castle Doctrine states now provide some measure of protection against civil suits to citizens who are no-billed, acquitted or otherwise found to have acted justifiably in a defensive shooting. There would be no civil protection for O.J. if he were tried and committed of the same murders only in Florida in 2013.
O.J. isn't a good parallel. Slicing the heads almost completely off of your ex-wife and her apparent lover is really an apple to Zimmerman and Martin's orange.
If NBC claims they didn't do anything wrong, then why did they fire 7 employees over the matter? Since they have never named the employees, that leaves only one entity to sue, NBC. Even if they had named them, NBC is still responsible.
I hope he is successful. I am so disgusted with our media today I cant even put into words how so. They are vile, disgusting, lying, corrupt, dirt bags. I hope to God he wins millions from them.
If anything, perhaps a win for him here will send a message to the media. Enough with your do anything to push your agenda bull ****.
They will probably force him to sue in NYC. They should break the company as brutally as he was broken by the heinous allegations.

There are law firms and then there are law firms. The absolute very best law firms are exceedingly tough opponents. And have lawyers of the caliber of Chief Justice Roberts who won 25 of 39 cases before the Supreme Court. Best believe if it came to an actual trial NBC would lawyer up to the ultimate. And in order to have a chance of winning George would have to do the same. Does he have the money to do so?
What part of this dont you understand? The whole cigarette lawsuit, asbestas lawsuits, and tons of multi billion dollar claims were all filed without the plaintiff having a dime to their name..

If this does go to trial though, NBC will do exactly as I wrote. They will get the best legal talent in this country. And so must George. If he has the money.

That would make a very powerful statement, but Zimmerman has no incentive to do that. His million dollar settlement will turn into a circus, and he'll have to split the results with anyone who claimed to be hurt.
I understand quite well how civil suits work; I'm not sure how the whole 'immunity' from civil action Florida law works. That is certainly not the case in my current state.
There is nothing limiting Zimmerman to sue if Florida, he can sue also wherever NBC has their headquaters, its his choice.
It would be up to the plaintiff to prove what you said was "done to harm the reputation of George." Unless you are a mind-reader, you have no idea what was their intention. They'll say we were reporting the news based upon a source.
The fact that they edited an intact conversation in a way that totally changed what Zimmermen was actually saying to something that made him sound racist is practically a smoking gun. If they didn't know damned well that what they did was wrong they wouldn't have fired the scapegoat editor.
