When I hear the word disinformation, I think back to the days and weeks following 9/11/01 and how the Bush regime fed Americans fear mongering tactics, of supposed biological and chemical weapons attacks {duct tape and plastic sheeting}

Threats or warnings of mushroom clouds, how dangerous Iraq was to America, and on and on.

It must have been the largest campaign of disinformation I had ever heard of in 40 years.

And, Americans, republicans and democrats bought it.

Why Disinformation Works. In America “Truth has no Relevance. Only Agendas are Important” | Global Research
I was thinking of those hikers who allegedly hiked in Iraq over the Iran border because they allegedly got lost. The spin on that one made me dizzy. Then there was the 2009 story that hardly anyone reported on about the two Japanese nationals stopped by the Italian police at the border with US treasury bonds of $134.5 billion and then disappeared. If they were real bonds, who dumped them? If they were fake, that was a big counterfeiting operation. The US said there was nothing to see, move along, they were fake. The story that wasn't really covered, died. And really, doesn't the Fast and Furious two-step irritate you as much as the Benghazi two-step and the IRS two-step?

I'm starting to think they promoted the state department woman Nuland and the IRS woman to shut them up.

Disinformation works because people are ignorant.
People are ignorant because the government "educates" them.

I live with someone who gleefully relates to me every single story he receives via email and Facebook, that feeds into the far right wing socialist/facist/concentration camp/black helicoptors/world government/conspiracy story line. It takes a LOT of research sometimes, to dig out whether the latest story is true or not. Sometimes it's true. Sometimes it's not.

If people of all political pursuasions had the ability and desire to critically think, see the bigger picture and actually demand the truth, we'd all be better off. My point is that there are sheep on both sides of the aisle.

The F&F and Benghazi coverups are deeply hurtful because people died. The IRS scandal does more than irritate me because a branch of our government used its power to try and silence democracy.

And yes........promoting in the ranks is a usual method in government, for getting people out of the way who are raising uncomfortable questions, and for buying off their silence.
