One of the biggest ironies is that the so called job creators are actually the cause of the economic crisis.

So desperate are these toads, to make a quick buck, that they ship most jobs abroad, penny pinch at every opportunity and encourage immigrants by the boat load.

So should they now be getting some comeuppance and be made to work down the salt mines

You should be advocating for the government takeover of the means of production in the US.
Full communism is what you should be cheerleading for.
Then your "War against private employers" will no longer exist.

There could be rules in place, far short of communism, that make employers take the national economy into account.

why ever not?

I suppose if you owned a business you would hire more people than you need, pay them $30/hour with full benefits, and eat nothing but ramen yourself to be able to pay them?

Companies answer to their board of directors and their shareholders, and must do what they can to maximize profits. They are sending jobs overseas due to the high cost of labor here, caused by government regulation. Now with the addition of the new healthcare laws, this will only get worse in the next few years. Blame the federal government, not the employers.

How about when I visit my local big name store - long lines because the company is too tight to hire more than one or two cashiers, in order to maximise profits.

IOW - leeching off the people, customers and workers

Somewhere between these two extremes lies the truth in most cases.

Yes, you are right. And the calls are for "government to do something" and that something always just stops short of nationalizing.
You got raise the min wage here and mandated benefits there and other government regulations and rules to "protect the workers".
Many people want government to make all the rules for business yet stop short of government owning business.
Why is that ?

Hell I don't blame them, if you are taking away 35% then hey they are going to go somewhere else. Can't find a job, you asked for it, you got it and you are getting pretty much nothing for being a government tool, exactly what you deserve.

The pay stinks doesn't it?

People buying stuff they can't afford, the government spending taxpayer money on things they can't afford, and the government going after turnips they can't get blood out of, are the reasons the economy is bad. Not employers. Though it's not to say that some aren't taking advantage of the economic conditions to pay less, overwork more, and downsize knowing people don't have another choice but to take it, they certainly are taking advantage of that.

No one owes you a job. Start your own business. Then you will understand.
