Obama's sequester policy demands that his administrative organizations cut spending, and he has decided to furlough government employees. It's my theory that he is doing this because at a later date, his Democrats in the senate will float a bill to reimburse federal worker pay that was lost during the furloughs. This way Obama can claim he is making spending cuts, while at the same time Harry Reid is busy writing an amendment to some future bill to backfill the cuts with furlough reimbursements.
I'm sure the Republicans will balk at this, because Obama's current actions will be seen as a fraud, and these furloughs will really end up not cutting anything. Meanwhile, we will still suffer the flight delays.
so here's how it works.
1) Obama forces the sequester into the Budget Control Act of 2011
2) He implements the sequester spending cuts by furloughing federal employees
3) He later tries to push an amendment to a future bill to reimburse the employees, thereby not actually making those spending cuts at all, while at the same time claiming that he has.
4) Obama makes a political circus out of the Republicans balking at the reimbursement trick, angering federal employees who stand to lose all that back pay
5) and as an added bonus, Obama showed that government can cause the American people a lot of pain and anguish if it chooses to cut back on critical functions of government.
