Counterterrorism Security Group

Interagency body convened on a regular basis to develop terrorism prevention policy and to coordinate threat response and law enforcement investigations associated with terrorism. This group evaluates various policy issues of interagency importance regarding counterterrorism and makes recommendations to senior levels of the policymaking structure for decision.

Obama has repeatedly stated that he immediately gave instructions to secure Americans in harm’s way, it is still unclear to whom he gave these instructions. What is clear is that they were not given to the people who were actually in a position to help.

The government’s own Counterterrorism Security Group (CSG) is an interagency group that specializes in both hostage situations and any terror attack on U.S. interests. CSG was never convened during or after the attack.

A protocol set forth in a classified presidential directive calls for the CSG to be convened in the event of a possible terrorist attack. It is designed to “synchronize the efforts of all the government agencies that have a role to play in the Global War on Terrorism.” The CSG knows “of multiple options and has the ability to coordinate counterterrorism assets across all the agencies

One lesson learned is if you are an ambassador in a foreign nation and call Washington for security help, or even call them while under attack do not expect Obama to even pick up the phone . Do not expect the government to send help
