In the unlikely event that the Supreme Court sides with conservatives and upholds DOMA and Prop 8, what will be the likely outcome? Does anybody think there may be riots?
Personally, I am afraid for what might happen if the court does rule that way.
You might have cause for concern if, that night, you were to walk into your local gay bar wearing a t-shirt reading "**** Go To Hell".
Otherwise, I think you'll be OK.
Things got crazy in California after the passage of Prop 8 i.e. church vandalism, disrupting church services, even some physical assaults. The gay rights movement has their militant radicals just like every other political movement. If the courts rule with conservatives, we may just see how far that wing of the movement is willing to go.

DOMA will be struck down- I guarantee it. It's looking like the justices don't wish to grant "standing" to the plaintiffs, which will let Judge Walker's original ruling stand. Marriage Equality will be a reality in California. There will be more organizing efforts because whenever a high profile case like this occurs, it draws in more supporters, espec younger people. The victory in California will show to the rest of the country how it can be done.

That is why I said it is unlikely for the court to rule that way but its still possible until we get a ruling.
I would say there is probably an 85% chance of the court striking down DOMA and also legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states.
As much as you and other posters clearly love the idea of mayhem and bloodshed being the result of an impending decision you won't like, just so you can gloat about it, there will be no rioting.

OK - well then, I guess you'd better go buy yet more guns and ammo, just in case.
