The Miller decision places the definition of obscenity on a consensus of public opinion. The public in the US tolerates graphic violence in the movies and on TV with very little comment. We love to watch war movies and TV mysteries carrying extreme and perverted violence. At the same time we place scenes of explicit sex behind censorship because it is “disturbing” to the contemporary populous.
I do not really understand why we, as a society, chose violence over sex. Why do we allow very graphic scenes of death and destruction yet try to hide or even eliminate scenes of people having sex with each other?

Yes, the natural act of discrimination, works to keep the unwanted in their place.
Human nature = Mother Nature.

Obscenity laws have no place in the United States.

If particular porn needs to be regulated (which it does, as with any idustry), the government should not be passing any judgment as to the "value" of the porn, or the content based on an "obscenity" metric. That's not for the government to decide.

Instead, the government should regulate to the point where it aims to protect people in the industry from harm (STD testing, condom usage, etc.).

Exactly my problem with the state of censorship...and attitudes of citizens...in America!

Depends, are you polishing your rod in the front yard, having sex with your wife in the back yard, or just going to get the newspaper on the porch......
