I figure if we are going to post a thread every time some one shoots a criminal we post these as well.

Just trying to be fair and balanced.

So, grandma has a history of rather severe mental illness yet the parents are cool with her picking up their kids.

Sadly, yes.

There are a lot of parents out there that are mentally unstable like that, my own included.

Another case where someone with severe mental issues owns/has access to a firearm and despite family/friends knowing this, nobody steps up to remedy the situation.

If it wasn't a fire arm it could've been a knife or poison.

That's a truly horrible story.

A) Was the gun legal? If so, how long has she owned it?

B) Most people are not born crazy. Something in their lives change them over time.

C) She could have just as easily drowned the kids.

D) Was it an "assault rifle"?

E) You people who want control over everything have an utter disregard for history.

I don't think you can control the mentally unstable. You need treatment for them, you need them to be in a mental health facility, you need them to be monitored. You shouldn't have children around them...

just wanted to add a little bit more to this story but apparently the mother of the two kids who were killed insisted the grandmother go with another relative to pick the kids up. Sadly this did not happen, also from what more I was reading it seems the grandmother had liens put against her home for outstanding debt to several different hospitals.

Quote:
There are also town records of Denison’s financial troubles.
Liens were placed for $5,925.96 in state income tax owed as of January 2013, for several debts owed to William W. Backus Hospital, including $2998.23 in January 2012, $450 in February 2011 and $664.60 in August 2005 and $668.00 to Connecticut Behavioral Health ASC in July 2007.

The problem is with these facilities it costs money to put people in there and sadly not everyone has the money to afford it.

That's understandable. But at any rate, relatives need to watch over these people. The above post is, right, it's better if someone else went with the grandmother...
