If it wasn't a fire arm it could've been a knife or poison.
A) Was the gun legal? If so, how long has she owned it?
B) Most people are not born crazy. Something in their lives change them over time.
C) She could have just as easily drowned the kids.
D) Was it an "assault rifle"?
E) You people who want control over everything have an utter disregard for history.
I don't think you can control the mentally unstable. You need treatment for them, you need them to be in a mental health facility, you need them to be monitored. You shouldn't have children around them...
just wanted to add a little bit more to this story but apparently the mother of the two kids who were killed insisted the grandmother go with another relative to pick the kids up. Sadly this did not happen, also from what more I was reading it seems the grandmother had liens put against her home for outstanding debt to several different hospitals.

The problem is with these facilities it costs money to put people in there and sadly not everyone has the money to afford it.

That's understandable. But at any rate, relatives need to watch over these people. The above post is, right, it's better if someone else went with the grandmother...
