Just for grins, consider this: NKorea manages to put 3 nukes together, along with delivery system. Then they nuke Seoul and take control of SKorea.
Would any country actually nuke NKorea in return? No, there's no percentage in it, no one is going to reward the US or anyone else. We would be obligated by treaty to defend SKorea, but that would probably involve the conventional military. Especially since NKorea has 2 more nukes, with which they threaten to destroy one of our cities. In fact, not only do they threaten to nuke a major city if we look at them the wrong way, but they also demand a payment of a large sum of money to keep them from carrying out their threat.
What could we do? It's damn hard to intercept a ballistic missile, or even to detect a bomb on a cargo ship if they were to choose a lowtech method. Would any president have the nerve to risk a city, even if it were a given that the retaliation would take out all of NKorea?
Just like they've threatened to destroy South Korea virtually every day since July 1953?
well.... in case you missed it. they set off a nuke the other day.
