Maybe that is why I don't see it here then.... Can't really say regarding Georgia, South Carolina
Georgia and south carolina are not the true south....it's alabama, mississippi and louisiana. Those are the deep southern states and unfortunately still the most racist.
Wrong guess. Most serial killers are white. All races commit crime. It is just the propensity to do so is much higher in certain races, e.g negroid.
I Know i was trying to be funny... All races do commit crime, just crazy to me when people say higher crimes are where blacks live. when everytime there is a mass shootings etc it's not black people.
Actually, slavery was dying off as a result of its own inefficiency. Agriculture in the south, no doubt, would be affected, but most likely would have been forced to mechanize sooner, and more efficiently.
Slavery was a lose-lose for all parties - except the descenants of trhe slaves who now live in a world far advance beyond that which they came from.
Same as what you benefit from. Your ancestors came from a hellish dump just like everyone else's. If it was a paradise, you wouldn't be here.
Foreign immigrants (Irish, Scottish?) working cotton plantations instead of slaves. A lack of slavery does not mean the demand for tobacco, cotton, spices, sugar cane, etc. decreases. Or perhaps the US South would never have been widely settled, in favor of European nations sending slaves to Eygpt, India, or other cotton producing nations that competed with the US.
Of course, with poor European immigrants replacing slaves in this theoretical world, we would still develop a strikingly similar scenario that lead up to the Civil War. The North would still be industrialized and the South would still be agrarian, and tariffs, taxes, regulations, plus just straight cultural differences would still be the center of debate and possibily war. In place of race, religious differences in the South would probably be the segregator.
The roots of American slavery are in the indentured and convict system. It was thriving when Africans became cheaper and with longer use. It's true that the labor need would not change, just who performed it. The convict busisness was deflected to Australia when the Revolution finished, despite ships being sent unasked. If there were not slaves then it would likely have replaced it as the cheapest alternative. It was often a 'special order' business and when someone wanted women of a age range, or strong men, the streets would be swept and anyone alone was fair game. They'd be taken, called 'vagrants' and sent to the ship straight from the Old Bailey.
If there was no slavery and ths source of labor was the streets of Edinbourgh to London, likely there would have been no Australia as it was founded as a place to put all the convicts who were backing up in grounded ships as the prisons filled.
I'd expect that they would still refer to the labor as indentured/convict but the system would have been tweeked so more time was gotten ouf of them as well.
Class might have been the form of segregraton instead. Down the road, cheap immigrant labor (as the railroads used the Irish) and share cropping might have replaced or simply augmented it.
As for the war, there would have been a cultural rift, but would the north have had any reason to call for the end of the labor system, and thus force a war? Would anyone have had interest in ending a system which was not so complete as the slavery system?
There would be no such thing as a "white American".
American whiteness was formed largely by defining itself as Not Black. European nationalities did not exactly love each other in the 17th and 18th century. As it were, there were Irish indentured servants, and even small sale selling of Irish and Highland Scottish political prisoners into slavery where they suffered under the same conditions as Africans. Without slavery, Europeans in America continue to identify with their homelands and really despise one another. Various Euro nationalities in America would have been in constant conflict.
As other posters have mentioned the musical culture of America would be much, much worse off. Most likely Brazil would be the musical powerhouse of the western hemisphere not the US.
Ridiculous. It would be wealthier and more developed.
disagree, you gained ALOT from slavery, some of the biggest companies in the world were built of slave labor AIG for one and many many more.

blacks labor wise built this darn country and you're a fool if you don't see that, you guys are just angry pissed off whites by the day, if slavery didn't exist the whole modern white mentality would have to change, it would be a different america for one since historically blacks where blamed for stuff since America came to past.
The whole mentality would change and America would have far less enemies than the have today, America would be way more socialist than it is today by far if whites had to pick cotton and do all that other backbreaking work, remember it was told whites weren't built for the tough work which is a good reason the blacks were doing it in the first place....
Skin cancer? All that other stuff....
I couldn't imagine a stand alone America without blacks doing the heavy load back in the day.....
