You simply cannot force yourself to reconcile that abortion is a scourge to society can you? You see "choice" and all you think of is "awesome!" no matter how bad that "choice" really is.

PP receives government money, lots coming from medicaid.

You take government money then you need to live with the public opinion.

Medicaid covers abortion in 15 states now. This is the state portion of medicaid.
Quite an interesting read.

Example: A family of 4 making $72K per year qualifies for state medicaid benefits for abortion coverage.

It is only 91% if you ignore everything else they do.

I never said otherwise and if you read my other posts you will see that. I was just pointing out that when people hear, "abortion", "Planned Parenthood" comes to mind, despite stats showing that they only provide 26% of abortions.

This is what I see in the 2011 Annual Report for the organization:

Of the almost 11 million persons benefitting from services after visiting Planned Parenthood affiliates in 2011, 3% received an abortion. Not 91%.

4.5 million received STD testing and treatment.
3.5 million received contraceptives.
1.3 million received cancer screening and preventive services.
1.2 million received pregnancy testing and/or pre-natal services.
334,000 received abortions or abortion services.
55,329 received family practice medical services.
2,300 received adoption referral services.
47,00 received treatment for urinary tract infections.
132,000 men and women received other medical services.

So, my advice is to 'look before you leap' to extremist/hatred generated assumptions and if you're going to oppose someone or an organization check your facts ... first.

I'm not a supporter of abortion, except in rare instances. But rather than condemn PP entirely, the organization should be congratulated for the good work it does ... overall.
You should read the small print. PP estimates seeing 3 million, not 11 million people. The 11 million refers to what PP calls a 'service,' anything from a pregnancy test, to treatment of acne, to an abortion.

So in other words, they do a lot more than just see patients. The majority of their work is providing a long list of services.

Yes, I know and agree. Just pointing out that even though they have low stats the fact that they receive government money leaves then open to public criticism.

PP has dermatologists now ? Acne treatment ?

PP is a "woman's health clinic"..not an HMO family practice.

They also document where that government money goes and what it pays for and what it doesn't.
