Obama has used his executive power to give raises to Congress and VP Biden....what say you?
Is this what our country is coming to? Take from the hard-working taxpayer and give to the folks who can't do their job. This country is in financial distress, put there by unending reckless spending, and yet, the same folks who write these bills and make these ridiculous laws are getting an increase in their pay. Guess who pays them? That's right...it's us...the working American public.
All of these men and women should refuse this increase....it's a slap in the face to all taxpaying citizens.
It's wrong of course but nothing new really. If you study the history of the Senate and Congress, they get raises every few years, they actually give themselves raises (one thing they are united on), while they bicker and argue for the media for all to see about lowering the regular American citizen's wages.

They should all get a 1% cut in pay and benefits for every $100 billion dollars they spend in annual deficit spending. That might persuade some of them to do their freaking jobs.
In reading about this deal a few minutes ago I read that someone has said that the Congress voted these raises down. Now it is, according to the Constitution, up to them to determine their salaries and this time Obama lost, or did he? Who really knows about this and what he was doing. I think the tiny raises, except the one for Joe "Foot in Mouth", weren't worth the taking. Anyway some games were being played and we will soon find out what the name of this one was.

I doubt it. You're talking about an elite group of people {politicians} and as long as they have their lobbyist friends, they could care less about average Americans.
Federal workers? yes, those people do need the raises they receive, they have living expenses just as ordinary everyday Americans have, they are the non-elites.
But we're discussing legislators here, aren't we clb10 ?
It looks like they are starting to run the government like a business...Rewarding failure at the top while the whole ship sinks.
