A websites personal accounts and perspective............Vietnam Veterans Spit On, part 3
If you explore the site you can also read about how lempke in holy cross college magazine where he attended college.........there are also two vets accounts of being spit on. which he ignored. this site also tells about a Mr. Greene who did a "study" where 70 some odd vets also gave their personal stories...........
I guess if you people think all us vets are liars............ I give up.
Bottom line is. it happened to me...............I have no reason to lie......
It took me a long time to search. but you also need to read this. It goes into more detail about how lempke started his research in the 80's when he should have gone all the way back to the 60's and 70's .
This guy has found specific news items with spitting on vets documented........The Volokh Conspiracy -
We really don't do enough for the military in this country. Don't get me wrong, what we do now is admirable and I've taken advantage of it here and there, but there needs to be more.
Homeless Vets? Why is this a thing. It needs to go away like 10 years ago.
seems that every public event (sports in particular) is required to include a tribute to the armed forces. Have we gone a bit overboard on this? Are we an overly militaristic culture?

All kinds of things happened to veterans, and I don't think anyone would dispute that incidents happened here and there, some bad, most good.
The thing is, this canard that it was normal behavior to curse and spit on veterans of Vietnam is pretty ridiculous, and only believed by those with a radicalized viewpoint (of which there are many)
I'm sorry this happened to you, and thank you for risking your life in Vietnam for your country. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans certainly deserve the same appreciation, even if all three of these wars are/were completely without reason (even the occupation of Afghanistan is not justified, and certainly not tactically or strategically a sound decision)
But think of the money people make/made from these wars. Right there is the justification for them.
Do we over-glorify our police and other first responders? Yes, maybe it's because the stupid people don't know how to protect themselves. The ignorant need to move to North Korea, Cuba, Red China or even Russia. The people their must be in love with their military.
The ignorant don't seem to know that in North Korea, Cuba... military is "power". And don't forget fascist governments where military was central to their functioning. Strong military was key, and supporting an industrial complex... military.
