California shares a close namesake with a similarly ignominous 20th century entity.

That's funny, last time I checked, UC Berkeley(one of the top public unversities in the country) was packed with the children of immigrants...
Are you saying that it is alright for the left to deceptively leave off the word "illegal" when describing illegal immigrants, but it isn't OK for a person who supports our immigration laws to do the same?
My apoligies to the crew(especially Captain Stanley Lord)of, and the ship itself, the SS Californian, but it's legacy of percieved ineptness seems to be mirrored in the current status of it's almost namesake, the State of California. In 1912, the SS Californian was accused of standing still while another ship, the RMS Titanic sank. In 2012 it is now the State of California that is sinking, and if you will pardon the metaphor - the people of California are standing still, doing nothing about it.
The RMS Titanic was the greatest ship of it's time, described as almost unsinkable. The State of California once was the envy of not just it's nation but the world. Now it is mired in debt, the Democrat controlled leglislature is beholden to special interests who feed the debt, and the state is almost unable to recieve a minimum line of credit. Our ship is sinking and we on board can do something about, but won't.
It is time as Californian's that we retake our once held status as the world's role model. Lower taxes, cut unnecesary spending, compete with Texas, Utah, and Nevada for startup businesses and keep the businesses who would love to stay here if not for the hostile climate(I mean taxes, not the sun!)
If we do not throw out the leglislators who are leading us to doom, we do have the option of entering lifeboats, named Texas, Utah, and Nevada. But, I would prefer we stop our ship from sinking, and reclaim the name of the once greatest state of our Union - California.
The iceberg = the Democratic Party.
Quick Harrier. Without the use of Google who is your assembly person? And what medium does he/she use to take in constituent's concerns? Everyone here has two choices; either grab an oar or a soap box...

LOL...one university represents California as a whole, huh? Without even bothering to do a search, I know without a shadow of a doubt that more worthless illegal immigrants roam around in California draining state resources and which will never be offset by the piddly few thousand students you refer to.
Given the state is #2 in total job creation, #1 in small business start ups, #1 in tech start ups, and the average new job created pays almost double what the average new job in Texas pays (where they're all pretty much minimum wage) I'm afraid I can't share your pessimistic view of doom and gloom. Hell, the state budget is very close to balanced (total deficit for 2012 was just $1.9B) and the total debt to GDP ratio is right smack dab in the US state average.
In short, your "analysis" is as moronic as it is incorrect.

A few thousand? Maybe you should bother to do a search... Try looking at the University of California system and tell me who makes up the majority of students.
Oh, that's right--this is just about "you no likey da Mexicans".

My assemblykid (he is so young that "man" isn't the right word) is a Democrat.
That means that he uses unions for political leverage.

Are you part of the professional work force in California? Minus the teacher's union California is not really union heavy. It's nothing like Chicago or the east coast out here...
