The Patriots — one of the most vocal activist components of the tea party movement — added that Romney had been “handpicked’’ by Washington’s GOP establishment.
“For those of us who believe that America, as founded, is the greatest country in the history of the world — a ‘shining city upon a hill’ — we wanted someone who would fight for us,” Jenny Beth Martin, national coordinator of the Patriots, told supporters in a statement Tuesday night, quoting Ronald Reagan.
“We wanted a fighter like Ronald Reagan who boldly championed America’s founding principles,’’ she said. “What we got was a weak moderate candidate handpicked by the Beltway elites and country-club establishment wing of the Republican Party. The presidential loss is unequivocally on them.”

The TP took a lot of money from the "country club elites" and are now complaining about the loss of the election and want their political virginity back. How endearing.

Unfortunately the Tea Party was hijacked by the neocons.

The truth is that if they hadn't taken the neocons money, they wouldn't have won any elections. They're miserable at raising money on their own. There lies the great dilemma that you all have to deal with...

You go, Tea Party!! Demand absolute purity of fundamentalist, far right wing ideology in every candidate the GOP puts forth from now on or withhold your support! Candidates must be MORE conservative, not less, because it's obvious by Tuesday's results that that's what Americans want!

We Democrats stand behind this strategy 100%.

What do you call a group of entitled, selfish, bigoted, hypocritical white people, with delusions of "independence" and "authenticity", who have, despite their protests to the contrary, voted Republican all their lives and will continue to do so in the future?

It becomes less and less humorous over time. A bunch of ignorant dullards taking over one of the two major political parties and steering it towards the ditch. As some of you have probably realized, these people would actually prefer a Democrat be elected than a moderate Republican. It's amazing. And then you look over the last couple years at the Senate races they have lost because these imbeciles refuse to support any Republican who isn't a knuckle-dragging, science-denying, poor-bashing, anti-intellectual ideologue. I don't even know how many moderate Republicans are left at this point. We are probably going to have the reverse of what happened in the nineties when a bunch of Democrats switched parties. How long can the moderates who are left stay with this crew? Honestly.
