Not banned, I should just have the choice to hate that belief system and say so. It can be done while still respecting people and their right to believe in it if they so choose. I think some of us are just tired of hearing about it and having it shoved down our throat.

I'm curious what you mean by this. Are there Muslim radio stations or TV shows with tens of millions of listeners/viewers featuring imams imploring them to practice their faith loudly and openly? Are there billboards all over the country urging people to read the Koran? Are there people holding up signs at football games with sura numbers written on them? Do prominent Muslim clerics preach politics and then have their every utterance lovingly repeated by the media? Is there a mosque on every street corner (sometimes more than one)? Are there vast areas of the country where non-Muslims are looked upon with deep suspicion? Have Muslims been agitating to have Muslim prayers recited in public schools, even by non-Muslims? Do they insist upon their right to print Koran verses on banners at high-school football games? Must every President have a Muslim religious advisor?
and before you start the inevitable accusations that I'm some kind of Muslim-lover: I'm not. I despise Islam, just as I despise all other retarded* fundamentalist belief systems. But I also don't believe it's nearly the threat to American values that some people on the right think it is.
*in the civilizational sense, not in the human-development sense.
I grew up in Detroit and even there, never experienced it being "shoved down my throat." I was gently proselytized once or twice, far fewer times than I have been by various types of Christians.
Shoved down your throat?
Never once has a Muslim come knocking on my door at dinner time, but at least twice a month different groups of Christians are.
Where do you live that they are "shoving it down your throat"?
