Here are the 5 years with the highest budget deficit ever and who controlled the Presidency, Senate, & House:

1. Highest Deficit is $1.9 Trillion in 2009 - President -Dem, Senate - Dem, House - Dem
2. Second highest deficit of $1.7 Trillion in 2010 - President - Dem, Senate - Dem, House - Dem
3. Third Highest 2011 deficit of $1.6 Trillion in 2011 - President - Dem, Senate - Dem, House - Repub
4. Fourth highest deficit of $1.3 Trillion in 2012 - President - Dem, Senate - Dem, House - Repub
5. Fifth Highest deficit of $1.0 Trillion in 2009 - President Repub, Senate - Dem, House - Dem


The 2 worst years the Dems controlled all 3 branches and the next 3 worst years, the Dems controlled 2 of the 3 Branches. The last year we had a budget surplus, the Republicans controlled Presidency, Senate, & House.
