Ive heard from many sources that those 'boxes' you get from the cable comany have little cameras in them, they showed the little lens that watch and hear your every move. Not sure how accurate that is, but we dont have one here, strictly rooftop antenna...and you would never know its antenna. We have no mountains or big hills here to block signals. Another 'supposed' spy thing is in rental cars. I can understand, if indeed they do have them, but those tiny little 'lenses' are either known to be found in rear view mirrors, that little bump thing on the dash, and that mystery circular mirror thing on the radio faceplate. Its good in the sense that the rental companies can keep record of who is actually driving the car (the original renter or someone who isnt on the contract) or someone texting while driving and they get in an accident, or just overall mischievious people.
If someone wants to watch me, I'll give 'em a show!
The government can spy on me all they want. All they'll find is that I love to dance in the shower, flip people off when I drive, and walk confidently down the sidewalk.
Somehow, I doubt the comings and goings of 99.999% of us are sufficiently interesting to the government that they would bother spending the money or resources. If you're being watched, it's because you drew attention to yourself, or your house got caught in a flyover or Google Earth/Google Street took a picture of a marijuana patch on your property--something like that. I figure they may already have a file on me from the Bush years because of my political blogging. As many bloggers will say at the end of a particularly critical entry, *waves to the FBI.*
I think the idea of cameras in cable boxes is a bit paranoid. You'd really have to give them a reason to go to that length, and they have more efficient ways of doing it without involving a third party like the cable company, anyway.
Just don't expect to get a gaming license if the feds run out of gas and land a plane on your fairway. (Points if you know where that's from.)
