They have them every fall and spring.

Newsflash-

I have two kids in college and one on the way. They only give grants for-

academic scholarships
athletic scholarships
minorities
bums

Everyone else pays full price. My two kids in college both were offered D-1 athletic scholarships and turned them down. They both have partial academic scholarships (20%). My youngest won't qualify for either, inspite of being in the top half of his class, ACT 27, and two sport three year letter winner. I don't care- his tuition is already paid.

However, it has become readily apparent to me, unlike my situation 35 years ago, that most scholarships/grants for non-athletes are for bums and minorities unless one has an ACT over 31 and straight As.

And if they keep plugging away at it every one of your kids are going to do great. God Bless them.

Better question... Why can't many middle class Americans afford to have children anymore? Cause we're too busy working to support everyone else's children.

I have one who is a soph in hi skool and i've been looking at the scholarship infor for the state universities around here. For every program that offers scholarships to everyone in each field there is also the same pool of scholarships offered to minorities who have to meet a lower standard. I'm thinking of quitting my job and divorcing my wife to get on the gravy train of fed and state grant money. lol

If your poor and a minority you are set. If your middle class and want to send your kids to college when they come out on the other side you will be poor. Love how the middle class is always getting helped out in this country. Make too much for grants and aid but not enough to pay for the now ridiculous cost of college. But Obama will take care of us all. LOL

Also about 20% of that tuition many folks pay is taken to hand to those who can't afford to go to college. So you are paying for others to go to college as well as your own. Many don't realize this either.

I had to pay the full cost of both my kids, I'm still paying for one who is now a junior. But he's living at home so it's cheaper than the last one!

I have another young man staying with me who isn't actually mine but I've been helping him off and on since high school and have helped him pay for CC classes, but he just turned 25 (seems to be the cut off for financial independence) and he qualified for Pell Grants because of his low, part time income (not more family/household income). This years tuition/books have been covered so he's taking more classes and should get his AA Degree next year.

So some dumbass on the street has idiotic views based on nothing? Shocking!

But yeah, the government DOES give money for college and LOTS of it.

I think your first line shouldn't read "I'm Republican" but rather "I'm ignorant to the facts"...then again, if you're voting for Romney the two statements are one and the same.

Yep! And... when you fill out the FAFSA, and you find out that saving for years for your child's college education is held against you it's even worse! We'd have been better off if we'd have never saved a dime for it! No matter what you do... NEVER put money in your child's name for their college education!

Yep, he sure will!! He want's to make sure we have social equality!!!

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. -Winston Churchill

Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. -Tocqueville

Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it - Sowell

The goal of socialism is communism - Lennon

The last shows that socialism is just a paving stone on the road to communism. Marxism anyone?
