They seen to think by being obedient sheep to their (R) masters, that one day they will magically become rich as well.

Looks like we need tax reform and tax increases across the board. If we had more tax cuts, the numbers would just grow.

Lets consider retierees+ the Unemployed would be 16-20% in most states. So in reality its like 10-15% that pay no taxes. and that is not that high.

its funny, that the bluest states who pay the most in taxes. . .i..e the people who favor the policies are paying.

Yet the data doesn't mean much. I.e OH MY GOD, RETIREES GO TO FLORIDA?

It's bizzaro world when the republicans are calling for tax increases across the board and the liberals are promising no tax increases.

We need to raise taxes and cut spending.

Folks on welfare don't vote GOP if they have time to vote at all. The south historically was settled by dominant culture that lagged behind the puritans, Germans, etc. that settled the north. When LBJs welfare and other govt policies came into place (minimum wage), that crippled the upward mobility of former sharecroppers and others.

The average southern GOP voter has to face their laggard cousin every day and comes to despise this situation. Meanwhile, the typical progressive (notice I didn't mention parties) in the north is not aware of the devastation of this legacy and are much more likely to racialize welfare.

No, we need to end loopholes and credits, while lowering taxes to a single flat tax digit AND cut spending. Entitlement reform should've happened decades ago but Greenspan swore it was on the up and up.

So, in other words, based upon this chart, Romney's comments were correct and all the socialists crying foul, were wrong.

If the liberals cannot see how this is going to get worse, not better, I don't know what to say. The United States is quickly going to become Greece, Spain, Italy, Iceland, and Ireland. What people on the right are saying is: Let's stop this now, before it gets worse. However, the Obama crowd wants to INCREASE social spending with money it does not have and does not want to raise.

As others said, raising taxes on the rich, will not solve the problem. It may delay it, possibly/perhaps, however they need to cut out the spending and raise taxes and/or reduce tax deductions, for EVERYONE across the board. Otherwise, we are just spinning our wheels and finger pointing at each other for nothing.

I'm a Libertarian, you can't just put the blame on the left. Pretty much every president in the past at least 35 years has raised spending, they just spend in different areas. And I notice you single out social spending, but if we keep spending this much money on things we'll go down. We have to cut spending across the board. It's unrealistic to think we don't. We spend more money on military than all other things combined. We outspend the next like 20+ countries. But it's the new Repub. talking point to keep increasing spending there. We need to cut spending period. The military has to be included and there's wasteful spending there too. I'm not saying don't have a strong military I'm saying don't throw good money after bad. We shouldn't do that on other spending either.
