A pastor in Indiana has put up a sign that uses a historical image of the 1930 lynching of two black teenagers in an effort to recharge the black vote.

Rev. Joy Thornton, the senior pastor of Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, said he’s concerned that African-Americans have grown complacent about voting, and he wants to urge people to exercise the right he says was hard won, the Associated Press reported.

This reminds me of that clown John Lewis trying to imply during the DNC that not voting for Obama would bring us back to the time of these lynchings.

Disgusting politics regardless of the side you support.

I don't have a problem with it, and it's not partisan. Too many young black people either don't know or don't care about how hard the older generations fought for basic freedoms like voting, employment and education, and therefore don't have interest in any of it.

I think its incredibly important to make sure people are educated on it, but there is a fine line between educating, and using it to try and instill fear.

Fear can be an excellent motivator, not that I expect the response of fear in this case (more like shock value causing people to think). Fear of poverty and homelessness drives the economy.

For African-Americans, I suspect the fear of a return to the days where the KKK was the local law in so many places ... is real ... given the posture of the Tea Party and racists who are so vigerously supporting Willard Romney. A Romney/Ryan win, funded in large part by extremists, is worth their reminding their constituency of what happened before. We know that history often repeats itself.

Whatever. Another lunatic shepherd who controls his flock by using fear tactics.
