The only thing I wish for is term limits for Congress and maybe a longer term for the president without the chance to run for re-election.

The President/ Prime Ministersystem has many variations. One is the Strong Prime Minister/ weak presient variant seen in places like like4 Germany or Israel were the Prtesident is an aging but distinguished citizen who doesn't make policy but is the symbol of the state. Such I President is a figurehead who is often ignored and can keep his job as long as he doesn't become enmeshed in a scandal or politics. The other variant is the Strong President weak PM like we have in France, Poland or Russia. Such a system is valuable since it often gives the President a target of blame for poor national policies since the PM serves at the behest of the Prewsident. You can fire the PM and claim you have taken action or a new direction in state policy. What how Mr Putin operates.

Those who want term limits usually just want to tell other states and districts who to vote for.

We have term limits, they are every two years in the house, four for the executive, and six for the Senate.

What's your take on this?
The President/Prime Minister mix is called "Cohabitation."

I might like to see a system more like that.

We might try a presidency with a single ten or twelve year term. The good ones could make a lot of progress without always having to worry about the next election. Although the bad ones could do a lot of damage, it wouldn't be as bad as a lifetime monarch. Best of both worlds.
